Intro
Meet Justin Medeiros. Known for staying calm under pressure and for his unmatched consistency, Justin has built a reputation as one of the most well-rounded athletes in CrossFit. By the age of 23, he earned the title of 2x Fittest Man on Earth and 2x Rogue Invitational Champion.
His rise wasn’t fueled by raw talent alone. A former wrestler and football player, he found CrossFit early, tackling his first workouts before he was even a teenager. Since then, it’s been discipline, experience, and strategic pacing that have set him apart. As the sport continues to evolve, Justin remains a steady force. Still hungry, still learning, and always pushing what’s possible.

Q&A
What is your profession? And did you always know this is what you would end up doing, or was it something you stumbled into?
I’m a professional CrossFit athlete. It’s not something that I always thought about doing. Sport has always been a constant in my life, and I always trained for sports, especially football. I thought I was going to go to college and become a D1 wrestler. I went to Boise State, and they ended up cutting the wrestling program. I wasn’t sure what I was going to do, but I knew that I had to do sport. So I went all in on CrossFit, and that started the career that I have now. It’s honestly been a dream come true. I can’t imagine myself doing anything else.
When you’re not doing your core pursuit, what else do you enjoy doing?
My girlfriend is from Australia, so we’ve gotten very into coffee. We have a full-blown coffee setup at our house. Other than that, it’s really just anything outside: hiking trails around Boise, or floating the river. Oh, and golf. Haha, I wish I was better at it. It’s hard to call it a hobby because I’m not good at it.
How do you incorporate music into your life?
We listen to music almost all day, every day. We’re in the gym for 3–6 hours a day, depending on the time of year. It’s what we listen to when we train. It kinda sets the mood. No matter what’s happening outside in your life, when we step into the gym, it’s a vibe for sure. We set the music to the mindset that we need to have when we train. Music is critical to my workouts.
What does “Live Free” mean to you?
Living Free, to me, means doing exactly what you want to do. I think, at times, people feel that they are limited by their jobs or whatever it may be, but you can always make time for the things you prioritize in your life. I know for myself, when I’m living life to the fullest and living free is something I’m focused on, I’m happiest for sure.
Any guilty pleasures?
My guilty pleasure, for sure, is cereal. When you look in our cabinets, there are at least five different options at any given time. Cereal is my little treat I get to have at the end of a long day of training. I’ve tried to cut it out, but man… I’m just unhappy. Cereal stays, no matter what, haha.
What’s your hottest take or most controversial opinion?
The earth is flat… haha, no, I’m kidding. So I’m really into history, and the pyramids are fascinating to me. I’m not going to lie, I get into conspiracies a bit. So my hot take is that I think the pyramids might be older than we think they are… and I’ll leave it at that.
Who is your favorite musical artist? Or what are you listening to right now?
Post Malone, without a doubt. My second favorite is probably Eminem. I grew up listening to country music, so that’s probably my favorite genre. But country music doesn’t really get the juices flowing when I’m working out. So Posty is my go-to by a mile.
Favorite Turtlebox speaker and why? How do you use it?
The Turtlebox Grande is my favorite speaker, for sure. It’s a little bit bigger and not as portable as the Ranger and Original, but from a sound perspective, it’s the best. I have four of them in each corner of my gym. I love the Party Mode feature, you can connect as many of them as you want. I like to drown out the noises in my head when I’m training, and the Grande is much louder, haha.
