2. GO CAMPING
These days camping and hiking are more accessible than ever, with affordable gear available from places like REI & Backcountry’s Steep and Cheap site and over 400 national parks to choose from, there's plenty of space to explore with friends and family. It can be a very healthy activity for your body and mind, and we encourage you to get out there and do some exploring!
3. GET ON THE WATER
Whether it's tidal marsh & beaches on the coast or inland lakes and streams, 70% of our planet is covered with water, and we encourage you to get out there and experience it for yourself. have a friend with a boat? call 'em up. Rent a kayak or SUP with some friends and float around. you could even hire a raft guide and get into some action in the rapids. However you go about it, you’ll be glad you went out and did it.
4. PLANT A VEGETABLE GARDEN
One of the most rewarding feelings we can think of is planting something and getting to watch it grow (kind of like starting a business in your garage). Here in Texas we’ll be planting warm season vegetables like corn, peppers & tomatoes. We recommend talking to someone at your local garden center and learning what grows best in your area. It can be a great way to challenge yourself and provide some fresh ingredients for the kitchen from your own backyard!
5. VOLUNTEER AT A LOCAL CLEAN-UP
If you're like us and you care about the health and longevity of your local waterways, forests and prairie then you know that it takes action to conserve & improve the condition of these areas. That's where you come in. Volunteer with a local clean up or conservation crew or get out there on your own and get your hands dirty! These eorts have a huge impact on the future of our planet and the next generation’s chance to enjoy the outdoors.
