Scottie Scheffler
Pro Golfer
Intro
Raised in Dallas, Texas, Scottie Scheffler grew up swinging his first clubs in the Lone Star State. Long before the championships and countless trophies, Scottie was just a kid hitting golf balls at Royal Oaks, learning the game from his longtime coach, Randy Smith.
Known for his calm demeanor, relentless drive, and deep faith, Scottie made his mark in the golf world while staying true to his roots. Family, grit, and a good dose of humility keep him grounded, even as he sits at the top as the world’s #1 golfer. Off the course, you’ll find him at home with his wife and son, listening to country music, or perfecting his latte art.
We’re proud to welcome Scottie to the Turtlebox family. From early tee times to slow Sundays at home, he’s the kind of guy who proves that the simple things like faith, family, and good music go a long way.
Q&A
At what point did you realize you had a special talent and could one day play on the PGA Tour?
"When we moved from New Jersey to Dallas, my parents set me up with swing coach Randy Smith at Royal Oaks. I was about seven, and pretty quickly, I was hooked. I just loved being out there. I kept showing up, kept hitting balls, and eventually started to think, maybe I’ve got a shot at this. Randy was a huge part of my life growing up, he’s like family to me."
How does music tie into your life as a professional golfer?
"Honestly, music’s a way for me to slow things down. Life on tour moves fast, and when I’m home, I like to just relax, throw on some music, and unwind. It helps me reset before the next stretch of tournaments."
What does “Live Free” mean to you?
"To me, living free is about being present and appreciating the little things that really matter. When I look back at my life, it’s not the wins, the trophies, or the photos that stand out in my memory. It’s those moments after the tournaments, when I’m just with my wife and son, soaking it all in. That’s the good stuff. Music’s always been part of those moments for me. Whether I’m at the park with my family or unwinding at home, it helps me slow down and stay grounded. With everything pulling for your attention these days, it's not always easy to stay present. But music has a way of bringing me back to what’s right in front of me."
Any guilty pleasures?
"As funny as it sounds, I’ve gotten pretty into making latte art. It started as just a fun thing at home, but now I try to perfect the designs. I travel to all the tournaments with my own latte machine. I’ve really gone down the rabbit hole. I’m still working on the perfect leaf."
What kind of music do you listen to?
"I’ve always had a soft spot for country music. There’s just something real about it. Flatland Cavalry’s one of my favorites right now, I love their sound. I’m also a big classic rock guy. Talking Heads, Creedence, The Eagles… I’m a sucker for the classics."
Favorite Turtlebox speaker and why? How do you use it?
"The Ranger’s my go-to speaker. I use it all the time. One of my favorite things to do is take my son to the park, and I always bring the Ranger with me. I’ll use the magnetic side to stick it on a light pole, throw on some Texas Country, and just hang out watching him play. Whether I’m on the road, at home, or out at Royal Oaks with my buddies, I’ve always got the Ranger playing tunes."
