Intro
Born and raised in Virginia and now living in the Lone Star State, Martha has built a name for herself as one of the top breakaway ropers in the game. What started with early lessons roping alongside her dad has grown into a world-champion career fueled by grit, focus, and a deep love for the sport. As a professional roper, Martha spends most of her time chasing the next rodeo, practicing in the arena, and putting in the miles that come with life on the road. Day in and day out, doing whatever it takes to be ready when the gate opens. Whether she’s feeding horses, gearing up behind the chutes, or decompressing after a long day, music is always part of the routine. Welcome to the family, Martha.
Q&A
What is your profession? And did you always know this is what you would end up doing, or was it something you stumbled into?
Rodeoing is something I’ve always wanted to do professionally. Fortunately, pro rodeos made that dream possible in 2020, when we were finally able to start making a true living with a rope.
When you’re not doing your core pursuit, what else do you enjoy doing?
Honestly, my life revolves so much around rodeoing and jackpotting that I really don’t have the extra time to do anything else.
How do you incorporate music into your life?
My life revolves around music. I’m truly a music lover, whether I’m outside feeding, practicing, on the way to the rodeo, or in the kitchen cooking a meal, I’m listening to music the whole time.
What does “Live Free” mean to you?
It means living life to the fullest and loving every minute of it. I truly try to do this every day.
Any guilty pleasures?
I’m a sucker for a bussin’ brownie fudge sundae.
What’s the craziest thing that’s happened to you in the wild/on tour?
I have a bunch of these, but probably last summer when the trailer caught on fire at like 4 a.m. while we were on the side of the road.
Who is your favorite musical artist? Or what are you listening to right now?
I honestly don’t have just one favorite. I listen to everybody and every genre. People always laugh at my playlist because it’ll go from a heartbroken love song to a banger rap song.
Favorite Turtlebox speaker and why? How do you use it?
I love all of my Turtlebox speakers. I use my Grande every day when I’m practicing. I also use my Ranger in my tractor when I’m dragging the arena, and I have one in both tack rooms of my trailer to listen to when I’m getting my horses ready at the rodeos and warming up on my dummy.
