Luke Bledsoe

Hunting Guide

Intro

A born-and-raised outdoorsman, Luke Bledsoe has been chasing feathers since the day he could shoulder a .410. His passion for waterfowl runs deep. What started as a hobby with his grandpa in Louisiana turned into a full-time pursuit. Today, he and his wife run Speck Ops Waterfowl, guiding unforgettable hunts across a 415-mile stretch of wild Texas land with access to over 200,000 acres of some of the finest waterfowl areas around. Whether he’s guiding a hunt, building genuine relationships, or making people laugh around a campfire, Luke’s passion for connecting with others and the natural world is unmistakable. Outside of his profession, Luke is all about quality time with the people he loves—preferably somewhere under the open sky. We're excited to welcome him to the Turtlebox family!

Q&A

What is your profession? Did you always know this is what you would end up doing or was it something you “stumbled into”?
As far back as my memory can go, I have always had the obsession of making a bird lock its wings. As I got older, I realized God has given me the gift of developing authentic relationships with people and He has somehow combined that with creating the most incredible waterfowl experience imaginable. If you had to put a label on it, I’d say a Waterfowl & Outdoor Entertainer, but there’s no denying this is what I have been called to do.

Favorite movie?
Gladiator is hard to beat. More of a music film score rat than movies themselves. Hans Zimmer & Howard Shore are the GOATS.

Most inspiring quote, piece of art, saying, or advice that has impacted the way you live today?
All the beautiful Bible verses aside, “Comfort is the enemy of progress” & “The Noblest art is of making others happy” from P.T. Barnum rolls through my mind every week of my life. Also, my Grandpa - “Do what you’re supposed to do when you’re supposed to do it”.

When you’re not working, what are you doing for fun?
Literally anything outdoors with the people I love.

Coolest place you’ve ever traveled?
Maui

Bucket list destination you haven’t been yet?
New Zealand

You’re stranded on a deserted island - who is coming with you and why?
My father-in-law because I know we’d be evacuated off the island within the next day from all the connections he has.

You get to have drinks with anyone (dead or alive) - who are you calling?
My late cousin Eric – it’s been 15 years since I’ve seen him, and I miss him.

What advice would you give an 18-year-old that wants to do what you do?
Don’t let the temptation of greed or success shift your morals. Fear of failure will cripple your growth, don’t let “no” intimidate you.

Any guilty pleasures?
Double scoop of world class chocolate in a fresh waffle bowl from Baskin Robbins will do it.

Favorite wild meat/fish to eat? And in what kind of meal do you prepare it/eat it?
Cubed Sandhill Crane breast with seasoned pancake mix, fried and dipped in Chick-Fil-A sauce will change your life. Nilgai rice & gravy is also hard to beat!

What’s your favorite element of Turtlebox?
The battery is a game changer. We get to charge it before clients show up and it’s rock solid for a 4-day weekend, one less thing we have to worry about.

How do you use your Turtlebox?
I undoubtedly have it with me more than my own wallet. Whether it’s taking our herd of kids down to play in the Frio River or running through the mud bringing a decoy setup sesh to life, it literally makes life more fun, period.

Name the most famous contact in your phone?
Love catching up with the fine folks at Duck Commander.
