Q&A
What is your profession? Did you always know this is what you would end up doing or was it something you “stumbled into”?
I am the host of the Captains Collective Podcast and run the Drifter Fish Club which focuses on creating unique experiences around destination travel. I always wanted to do something in the outdoor world but I can’t really say any of this was a “plan.”
Favorite movie?
Movement Generation. Shoutout to Shane Dorian. I don’t even surf (yet) and I find myself watching that every few months. Something about it really inspires and resonates with me.
Favorite book?
The Profit by Kahlil Gibran. That book has made a big impact on me and came into my life during a very significant time.
Most inspiring quote, piece of art, saying, or advice that has impacted the way you live today?
“You can do anything, but you can’t do everything.” -Dove Chocolate Wrapper and “What matters is not what you were, but who you are becoming.” Rafiki
When you’re not working, what are you doing for fun?
When I am not traveling I live a pretty simple life and enjoy going very slow.
Coolest place you’ve ever traveled?
Pelican Chandelier off the coast of Louisiana.
Bucket list destination you haven’t been yet?
Oman. We are planning a trip for 2026 and I think about it every single day.
You get to have drinks with anyone (dead or alive) - who are you calling?
I would love to have one more conversation with my grandfather. I am so grateful for the time that I got with him as a child, but the older I get the more I wonder and wish I could learn from him.
What advice would you give an 18-year-old that wants to do what you do?
Be yourself.
Any guilty pleasures?
What pleasure isn’t a little guilty? Gas station candy and Netflix.
What’s your favorite element of Turtlebox?
Durability for sure. I like that it is one less thing you have to baby at the end of the day. I am pretty hard on my gear and do mostly saltwater fishing, so it feels like I am constantly doing maintenance on things.
How do you use your Turtlebox?
The “how don’t I use my Turtlebox” list is much shorter. Long runs, boat washing, grilling, yard work, and family dance parties with my girls.
