SHANE DORIAN - U.S. SURF COACH
It comes as no surprise to us that this years US surf team nominated Shane Dorian, unanimously, to serve as their head coach as they go for a medal in Teahupo’o. The 51-year old legend is the rad uncle everyone wishes they had, a mentor to so many and an idol to all of those chasing after his legacy. So needless to say, the team is pumped to have Shane in the water with them. When asked about the prospect of coaching in a recent interview with Surfline, he delivered humbly - “It’s funny. Over the years, I’ve just kind of found myself in a coaching position. I never really pursued it and I’m still not — it’s not something I want to do for a living or anything like that.” Well for a coach that doesn’t want to be a coach, we think he’s done an incredible job so far & we wish Shane & Team USA all the best as they go for gold in Tahiti!
