"I’m a fan of the West and everything that inhabits it. Horses are a large part of that for me. I’ve been around horses my entire life and there’s still magic that tugs at me when i see a herd of horses moving, the rhythm of the hooves, the colors with the light shining on their hides. I wanted to try and show a little of that magic." - Teal Blake

Meet The Artist
Teal Blake grew up on the eastern slope of the Rockies, in Montana ranching country. He got his start in his father’s studio, flipping through C.M. Russell paintings and well-worn Will James books. It wasn’t long before he picked up a pencil to capture his own version of cowboys and the American West. Watercolor is his medium, and broncs are his favorite subject. The connection to the West runs deeper than paint. “My great-grandfather, Samuel Coke Blake, is in the American Quarter Horse Hall of Fame,” Teal says. “He was one of the original founding breeders of the breed.”
