Owen Wilcox

Pro Walleye Angler

Intro

Owen Wilcox has been chasing fish for as long as he can remember. Growing up in Montana, what started as a passion early on turned into a full-time pursuit. Today, Owen competes as a professional walleye angler, putting in long days on the water. It’s a craft built on early mornings, changing conditions, and the kind of patience it takes to stay on the bite. In the offseason, you’ll find him guiding hunts and fishing trips back home. Whether he’s on the water, in the field, or kicking back with friends and family, he’s all about making the most of it. For him, it’s simple: do what you love, keep it loud, and don’t overthink it.

Q&A

What is your profession? And did you always know this is what you would end up doing, or was it something you stumbled into?
I am a professional walleye angler, and when I’m not fishing tournaments, I’m guiding hunting and fishing trips back home in Montana. This is something I’ve known I wanted to do since about middle school.

When you’re not doing your core pursuit, what else do you enjoy doing?
When I’m not fishing, I’m hanging out with family and friends, watching football or UFC. I also have a big passion for big game and pheasant hunting.

How do you incorporate music into your life?
Music is a big part of my life. I’m almost always listening, whether I’m out fishing, working out, or even just doing chores around the house.

What does “Live Free” mean to you?
Living free means doing what you love. If you do what you love for work, you’ll never work a day in your life.

Any guilty pleasures?
I have a horrible sweet tooth, especially for ice cream.

What’s your hottest take or most controversial opinion?
If you ain’t scopin, you're hopin.

What’s the craziest thing that’s happened to you in the wild/on tour?
In my rookie year on the National Walleye Tour, during the second tournament of the season, I blew my lower unit at takeoff on day one.

Who is your favorite musical artist? Or what are you listening to right now?
If it sounds good, I’ll listen to it, but country is definitely my go-to. Right now, my favorite artists are Turnpike Troubadours and Stephen Wilson Jr.

Favorite Turtlebox speaker and why? How do you use it?
The Grande. It’s bigger, better, and louder. My Turtlebox goes pretty much everywhere with me, if I find a situation where I can use it, I’m going to.
