Q&A

What is your profession? Did you always know this is what you would end up doing or was it something you “stumbled into”?
I am a professional surfer. I learned to surf when I was really young and started doing competitions for fun around the age of 9 years old. Since then my dream has been to become a professional and make a career out of it and I have worked hard everyday to make it a reality. I am very blessed to do what I love most everyday for my job!

Most inspiring quote, piece of art, saying, or advice that has impacted the way you live today?
This is a hard question, I am very lucky to have amazing role models in my life that have shared so much with me. I think something that has stuck with me recently is something my dad shared with me. He has been reminding me that God always has a ladder in front of you to climb to get to where you want to be. Your job is to take each step up the ladder. Some may be scary or push you out of your comfort zone but the only way to the top is to take the next step. It's the hard work that you do everyday consistently that gets you to where you want to be. The opportunity to work hard is always in front of you, the choice is yours to take the steps to climb the ladder. This advice has been motivating me to work hard to accomplish my goals!

When you’re not working, what are you doing for fun?
I feel like my whole life revolves around the ocean, so surfing is definitely what I do for work but also for fun. I love diving and looking for shells. I am really into practicing yoga. I have also been getting into cooking. These are some of my hobbies outside of surfing. My passion for being active and outdoors is what drives my life, so I also love hiking, working out, and training in the gym.

Coolest place you’ve ever traveled?
Last year I got to travel to some of my bucket list locations. Western Australia was my favorite! The beauty of the coastline there is incredible, the food was amazing, and there were so many fun places to surf. The whole vibe of that side of Australia is amazing. I got to do a trip to Indonesia in June last year as well. As a surfer I don’t think there is anywhere more fun than those islands. The water is beautiful, crystal clear and there is every type of wave you could think of. I also did a strike mission trip to Namibia to surf skeleton bay. This was one of the craziest, most adventurous trips I have ever been on. Namibia is filled with sand dunes as far as you can see. It feels like you are on another planet like mars. Then the wave is on a giant sandbar that is miles long. The wave itself is over 2 miles long. It was a dream to surf it and be able to see it in person.

Bucket list destination you haven’t been yet?
I really want to go on a trip to Iceland. My absolute dream is to surf under the northern lights there. I would say that trip is at the top of my bucket list.

Any guilty pleasures?
I have the biggest sweet tooth! Brownies, Chocolate, Cookies, Cinnamon rolls are my favorite guilty pleasures.

Favorite wild meat/fish to eat? And in what kind of meal do you prepare it/eat it?
Recently I have tried venison for the first time and it was amazing! My favorite fish is probably bluefin tuna or wahoo sashimi.

What’s your favorite element of Turtlebox?
I love bringing people together with music. I feel like it elevates the vibe on any gathering. My favorite features on the Turtlebox are the durability ( perfect for the beach), the sound quality, and the battery life.

How do you use your Turtlebox?
I use my Turtlebox everyday while cooking food. I love turning on music while in the kitchen! We have also been using the Turtlebox speakers for BBQs with friends. We usually set up two across the room and sync them together so you get the surround sound effect. And also for pre-surf hype ups! Getting good music blasting in the house before heading out to surf is so fun.
